Li Fanrong attends 11th APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting

The 11th APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on August 25. Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The opening ceremony was chaired by Zhang Zhu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Serving as the 2026 APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Chair, Li Fanrong, Chairman of Sinochem Holdings, delivered remarks on behalf of ABAC at the opening ceremony.

Li noted that ABAC has always made food security a top priority and will continue to serve as a bridge between the business community and governments, and to promote practical cooperation on food security across APEC economies. On the sidelines of the meeting, Li held talks with Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Themed “Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together,” the meeting brought together around 200 delegates from the APEC economies, the APEC Secretariat and other international organizations. The meeting issued the Joint Statement on the 11th APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting. The consensus reached will help establish an institutional framework and define concrete pathways for regular agricultural cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region.
