ChemChina started mass productions of aramid fiber through its own research and development technologies.

1-cm thick honeycomb paper made of aramid fibers can bear 300 tons per sq m. The cord has five times the strength of a wire cord. Aramid composite materials can be used for 10 years in a temperature as high as 220 ℃ without aging.

Cao Xianjun, president of China Bluestar Chengrand Chemical Research and Design Institute, said, "due to its special properties, foreign enterprises that own aramid production technology have always adopted strict crypto security measures. Only two companies in the United States and Japan possess the core technology. Historically,, China could only import it."

Trial productions for kiloton aramid II, which is led by China Bluestar Chengrand Chemical, were succesful in Chengdu in May 2011. Chengrand Chemical holds independent intellectual property rights and 16 core patented technologies.

Ye Guangdou, professor of Sichuan University, said, "without aramid production, high-speed trains, reinforcing tires, high load-bearing rope are difficult to achieve. It isrevolutionary progress for domestic smart materials development."
