On February 4, the ChemChina trade union issued a circular mapping out a strategy to serve staff workers, in a face-to-face and heart-to-heart mode, in all its subsidiaries. By handling the affairs of staff in a down-to-earth manner, the group could stabilize growth patterns, adjust structure, improve management and enhance benefits to cultivate a sound atmosphere to greeting the 18th National Congress of the Party. Ren Jianxin, the general manager, instructed the trade union to organize efforts to create the desired results.
The All-China Federation of Trade Unions held a videoconference in January and issued documents, mobilized trade unions in the country to launch activities to help staff workers in a grassroots manner. The mass work bureau of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission dispatched documents that require enterprises affiliated with the central government to respond to the call of All-China Federation of Trade Unions and carry out an extensive approach. It stipulated that enterprises should carry out a “four first-class” staff organization, form a reliable mass movement and demonstrate the role of connecting the Party with the masses to promote stable development.
In a circular, the ChinaChem trade union elaborated that serving staff workers in the grassroots can fulfill the Party’s requirements to help the local region. Harmonious labor relations and sound social management could adapt to the new changes of staff workers and satisfy their requests. It is the usual practice to improve work styles and set up a good image for trade unions. They must implement measures to improve work conditions, maintain workers’ rights and promote harmonious labor relations to make innovations in the front lines of labor. The circular stipulated that all trade unions should grasp the purpose of their roles., Five missions have been designed for launching research, promoting policies and regulations, enhancing corporate development, solving problems and making advances in key works. The labor union should understand the thoughts of staff workers and emphasize the scientific development of the company.
To strengthen its guidance, ChemChina has set up a leading group to coordinate, supervise and promote its activities by calling for all subsidiaries to connect the main tasks of the group with the trade union for 2012. It would focus on the central task of “stabilizing growth, adjusting structure, intensifying management and increasing benefits” to combine with actual situations that determine concrete activity modes, highlight corporate characteristics and integrate with efforts of the group to contend for excellence and transforming work styles of cadres to help each other move forward and achieve substantial results.
