2005

February 25: ChemChina obtained the Safety Production License issued by the State Administration of Work Safety, being the first one among central enterprises.

March 28: BlueStar Changsha Design & Research Institute developed the study project of leopoldite development and utilization in Luobupo area, which won first prize of the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology in 2004 awarded by the State Council.

April 27: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the SASAC approved ChemChina’s right to examine and approve foreign affairs.

October 19: ChemChina officially acquired French company Adisseo. According to the acquisition contract, BlueStar acquired 100% of the shares of Drakkar Holding S.A., the parent company of Adisseo, at a price of 400 million euros via non-cash and non-bank liabilities.

December 9: ChemChina officially signed the Share Sales Agreement and the environmental contract to acquire 100% of the shares of Australian company Qenos. According to the contract, ChemChina acquired 100% of Qenos’ shares at a price of 232.5 million Australian dollars through non-cash and non-bank liabilities.

2006

March 15: ChemChina’s 11th Five-Year Planning Outline was released and implemented.

April 3: ChemChina held the Qenos acquisition ceremony in the Parliament House of Australia, one of the important events during Wen Jiabao’s visit to Australia.

April 4: He Guoqiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee instructed ChemChina on its successful acquisition of Qenos. He said the acquisition was a critical step to develop ChemChina into a stronger state-owned company as well as a key step to implement the strategy of “going global”. He also encouraged ChemChina to promote its management to gear toward international standards and accelerate development.

April 10: Vice chairman of the National People’s Congress Gu Xiulian instructed ChemChina on its successful acquisition of Qenos. Gu said the acquisition was a huge breakthrough and hoped ChemChina operated its overseas company well so as to become an internationalized business.

April 24: Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council Hui Liangyu, paid a special visit to the production bases of Adisseo during his visit to France. He spoke highly of Adisseo, and supported BlueStar’s organic silicone alliance project with Rhodia.

September 6: The commendatory conference of famous Chinese brand products’ quality revitalization, which was held during the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the Outline of Quality Revitalization issued by the State Council, was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Six ChemChina product brands were awarded as China Famous Brands, including the Lichuang and Shuanglun vulcanizing machine, He soda ash, BlueStar organic silicone, Yima nitrogenous fertilizer, and Dacheng pesticides.

September 22: Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference paid a visit to the Sparks organic silicone plants in Jiangxi. Jia said he was glad about the achievements made by the plants, and encouraged them to make more efforts with a deeper crisis awareness and a sense of urgency in order to make a greater contribution to the national development of organic silicone. Meng Jianzhu, secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, Huang Zhiquan, governor of Jiangxi, as well as other central government officers, visited the Sparks plants with Jia.

October 26: A ceremony for BlueStar’s 100% acquisition of Rhodia’s organic silicone and sulphide business was held in Beijing. President Hu Jintao and French president Jacques Chirac participated in the signing ceremony.

November 23: ChemChina signed the bank-enterprises cooperation contract with the China Construction Bank (CCB). The CCB planned to offer a comprehensive credit line of 13.4 billion yuan within the year, supporting building ChemChina’s key projects in the field of advanced chemical materials, as well as technical reform.

December 15: ChemChina officially started the information network planning project. General manager Ren Jianxin made an important speech, and deputy secretary Fu Xiangsheng gave a mobilization speech. The day also witnessed the birth of a cooperation agreement between ChemChina and Atos Origin regarding information network planning.

2007

March 28: The "07 New Chemical Materials Boao International Forum" was held in Boao City, Hainan province, co-sponsored by China National Chemical Corporation, Hainan Provincial Government, Dechema eV and Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank. Gu Xiulian, vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, Zhang Guobao, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Wei Liucheng, party secretary of Hainan provincial government and Li Yongwu, chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, as well as other leaders and relevant experts attended the forum. ChemChina president Ren Jianxin delivered speeches at the forum.

April 20: ChemChina successfully issued corporate bonds worth 1.5 billion yuan under the approval of the State Development and Reform Commission. This is the first time ChemChina issued bonds in its own name.

May 14: ChemChina sent delegations to ACHEMASIA 2007. Company president Ren Jianxin was invited to attend the "ACHMA Chemical Process Technology and Engineering Forum" and delivered a speech named "Strengthen Innovation and Cooperation to Promote the Development of the New Chemical Materials Industry".

June 29: The party committee of SASAC and SASAC adjusted the management of ChemChina and appointed Du Guosheng as party secretary of the ChemChina party committee and deputy General Manager of ChemChina Group.

September 10: ChemChina and The Blackstone Group from the US established a strategic cooperative partnership, with the latter investing 600 million US dollars, accounting for 20% of BlueStar's shares. Relying on its own advantages in the chemical industry and the international capital advantages of The Blackstone Group, ChemChina announced it would build BlueStar into the world's leading company in the field of new chemical materials and specialty chemical products.

October 22: ChemChina held a kick-off meeting for the Information Construction Pilot Project and decided to launch financial reform, constant improvement, data transformation and an ERP program at BlueStar.

October 27: The National Bureau of Statistics held the 7th China Top 500 Enterprises Release Conference in Beijing at the Great Hall of the People, announcing that China National Chemical Corporation ranked 35th among China's Top 500 Enterprises and 100 leading enterprises. Its comprehensive competitiveness ranked 11th among all central enterprises and the first among all chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturers.

November 7: ChemChina president Ren Jianxin was invited to attend the 11th CEO Forum held by Business Week (US) in Beijing and met with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair during the conference.

November 22: ChemChina put forward a "Zero-discharge" management philosophy to further implement the scientific concept of development and increase energy-saving emission reduction efforts to build itself into a resource-saving and environmentally-friendly enterprise.

2008

January 14: After the 67th Party and Company Meeting, ChemChina decided to vigorously push forward the reorganization of business sectors and adjust the business, assets and personnel of 47 corporate units and formed into six new sectors: chemical materials, basic chemical products, petrochemical, crop protection, rubber and chemical machinery.
January 30: ChemChina president Ren Jianxin was awarded "China Economic Leaders of the Year 2007", organized by CCTV.

March 17: The first training class of middle-aged cadres of ChemChina at the Central Party School kicked off. Ren Jianxin delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

May 9: The China Chemical Industry Museum, fully invested by ChemChina, was officially put into use, becoming China's first Chemical museum.

August 6: Former vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee and former Minister of Chemical Ministry Gu Xiulian visited ChemChina, accompanied by other relevant leaders. She spoke highly of ChemChina's efforts in its four years after reorganization and said ChemChina aided in the development of China's chemical industry and helped form a new industrial pattern in the petroleum, petrochemical and chemical industries.

September 18: In the final contest of the Central Enterprise Workers' General Chemical Control Skills held by the SASAC, one contestant from ChemChina won the second place prize and three won the third place prize. Four were awarded "Technical Expert of Central Enterprises" and two were named "Promising Young Job Experts". ChemChina won the "Outstanding Organization Award".

September 27: The National Bureau of Statistics held the 2008 China Top 500 Enterprises Release Conference in Beijing's Great Hall of the People, announcing that China National Chemical Corporation ranked 28th among China's Top 500 Enterprises and 100 leading enterprises, moving up seven places compared with 2007. It kept the first ranking in chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacture.

October 8: ChemChina ranked 19th among the world's Top 100 Chemical Corporations according to ICIS, a global leading Chemical Information Service provider.

October 20: The opening ceremony of China BlueStar (Group) Co, Ltd and investment delivery of ChemChina and The Blackstone Group was held in Fangfeiyuan in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. According to the agreement, The Blackstone Group invested 600 million US dollars and held 20% of the shares of BlueStar. As a result, the BlueStar company changed into China BlueStar (Group) Co, Ltd, which was the first case of central enterprises' introducing strategic investment by a non-listing method. ChemChina president Ren Jianxin, Blackstone CEO Tony James, senior managing director of The Blackstone Group and deputy general manager of BlueStar Co, Ltd Liang Jinsong, senior managing director of The Blackstone Group and general manager of BlueStar Co, Ltd Zhang Kun, and relevant leaders and representatives from over 30 local and foreign banks, agents and consulting organizations attended the ceremony.

October 30: The "2008 Tianjin International New Chemical Materials Forum" kicked off with Ren Jianxin delivering the keynote speech.

2009

April 28: The China Chemical Industry Museum was named “Beijing Science Base”.

July 11: ChemChina was shortlisted in “China’s Top 100 Independent Innovation Enterprises”

August 18: ChemChina was named National INNO-BIZ.

2010

January 27-31: ChemChina General Manager Ren Jianxin attended the 40th World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on invitation and made a speech. People at the forum spoke highly of the achievements of ChemChina.

June 11: ChemChina and Norwegian Orkla signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Oslo. Officials including He Guoqiang – a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection were present at the signing ceremony.

October 28: French President Sarkozy issued an executive order to grant Legion of Honour to ChemChina General Manager Ren Jianxin.

November 13-14: The second Chinese communist party congress of ChemChina was held in Beijing.

December 7: ChemChina won “Six Sigma Outstanding Contribution Award” from the third “China Leadership Conference” of ISSSP.  
 
2011 

January 10:  China BlueStar signed agreement with the Orkla Group to purchase 100 percent of the shares of Elkem Co.

January 14:  ChemChina's work conference was held in Beijing. Ren Jianxin, general manager of ChemChina and Communist Party Secretary, issued a work report at the conference.

February 14:  Twenty-nine of its patents were awarded the China chemical patents excellent awards in 2011, fifteen member companies were awarded advanced enterprises in national chemical patents, two member companies received special contribution awards in China chemical patents.

March 7:  ChemChina called all staff to learn from Li Junxian, former director of Liming Chemical Research Institute and one of the founding fathers of rocket propellants in the nation.

May 9:  ChemChina general manager Ren Jianxin published an article at the seventh anniversary of its founding to call for all staff to meet challenges and achieve sustainable development.

May 20:  Ren gave a speech on the production and operations of the Australian member company at the state-owned enterprises symposium held in Sydney, Australia. Wang Yong, director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), affirmed its corporate achievements in the overseas market.

May 31:  ChemChina was honored as one of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan excellent state-owned enterprises in energy savings and emissions reductions at a conference held by SASAC.

July 2:  ChemChina celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party. ChemChina's general manager and Communist Party secretary, Ren Jianxin, delivered a speech.

July 7:  ChemChina was ranked 475 among the global Fortune 500 companies list released by Fortune magazine.

August 25:  ChemChina held the Fourth International Chemical New Materials Summit in Chengdu.

August 27:  ChemChina held a work conference to summarize its achievements during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period and announced work targets for the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period and rewarded advanced units and individuals. Ren delivered a speech.

September 6:  Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang visited the ChemChina booth at the first China Advanced Materials Industry Exposition and he spoke highly of its achievements.

October 17:  China National Agrochemical Corporation completed the purchase of sixty-percent stock of the Makhteshin Agan Group.

December 21:  The opening ceremony of the Industry Cleaning Association of China was held in the Great Hall of the People. China BlueStar launched the group. Gu Xiulian, vice chairman of the tenth Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Shao Ning, deputy director of SASAC, Li Yongwu, chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, Lv Huangsheng, chairman of SASAC board of supervisors and ChemChina general manager Ren Jianxin attended the ceremony.
