 Sinochem's fluorine chemical business has grown rapidly through independent innovation in recent years. At the moment, our patented HFC-134a with the brand “JINCOOL”, produced by the Sinochem Modern Environment Protection Chemicals (Xi'an) Co., Ltd.. has been widely applied in China’s automobile, refrigeration, central air-conditioning and aerosols and has taken more than 30% of the domestic market share. Meanwhile 44% of the product is exported to Europe, America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, well embraced by the international market.
HFC-134a is accepted throughout the world as the best environmentally friendly substitute of CFC-12, which is an Ozone Depleting Substance (ODS). In 2006 our annual output capacity in Xi'an reached 10,000 tons. Meanwhile, our production equipment, with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons, was under construction in the Taicang Industrial Zone of Jiangsu Province. The total production capacity would reach 30,000 tons per year when the Taicang project goes operational in January 2007. Upon completion, Sinochem will become the largest domestic manufacturer and supplier of HFC-134a, ranking the 3rd in the world.
In 2006, we successfully brought in the production technology of HFC-245fa on the basis of further improving the current industrialized equipment of HFC-134a. At the same time, we established equipment for HFC-125 and completed the pilot trial. We established Taicang Research Institute of Fluorine Chemicals and set up an associated laboratory with Shanghai Organic Chemistry Institute of CAS. The laboratory chose fluorinated fine chemicals, fluorinated ODS substitutes and fluorinated macromolecule materials as the main areas of its researches, with the purpose to comprehensively improve our innovative capacity of both fluorine chemical products and technologies.
