On July 18th, Shanxi Sinochem Wonder Industrial Co. Ltd. (“Sinochem Wonder” hereinafter), a coke producer of Sinochem International (SH 600500) succeeded the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) registry of a 24 MW power generation from coking waste heat project in the executive board of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and became China’s first heat recovery coke oven manufacturer with CDM registry.

The CDM allows emission-reduction (or emission removal) projects in developing countries to earn certified emission reduction (CER) credits, each equivalent to one tonne of CO2. These CERs can be traded and sold, and used by industrialized countries to a meet a part of their emission reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol.
